Well, Mod came to us kind of unrepentantly. Not that the thought of wanting a buck out of Song hadn’t crossed our mind, but we knew that the waiting list was long and the possibility was on the slim side.

While attending the 2006 ODGA (Ohio Dairy Goat Assoc.) annual Conference and Buckeye Sale, we had the opportunity to meet “Mod”.  We were there consigning one of our doelings at the buckeye sale.  She and Mod were the only two Nigerians there as well as the first ever to be accepted into the sale.  Sue told us about her plans to submit Mod to the Buckeye Sale a few months earlier.  We kept this in the back of our minds but kept the buying urges at bay…...until we arrived at the sale.  We went there to sell our doe not to buy another animal (at least that’s what we kept telling ourselves) but once there we realized that this was a rare opportunity that may never come to us again.   Just before the bidding started we decided that we just couldn’t let this opportunity pass us by.  We obviously won the bid to purchase Mod.  We were ecstatic!

Not only was Mod one of the sweetest bucklings as far as personality went but , WOW, could you ask for more in a genetic package?    If you don’t recognize Mod dam’s name, let us take a minute to give some background.  Song is the highest appraising ND to date with EEEE, 91 at 6-01 in 2005.  Song also has the show wins to back that score up.  She has been awarded 5 ADGA BIS wins over the past two years.  If you’ve ever had the pleasure of showing with Song, you’ve seen an awesome dairy animal.  We’ve stood behind Song many times but have always been honored to be there realizing her caliber.  We’re beyond excited hoping that Mod will bring his mothers qualities with him to our herd.
